Refuting Misconception About Islam[1a]

  1. Assalamualaikum wr wb Ustaz,

Jazakullah ya khairan. Alhamdulillah, thank you Ustaz, for the beautiful and meaningful parable.

Whenever i read your articles over and over again, a different reflection will arise in my mind.

I always come across the 'Singapore Muslim identity' whenever i read the magazine, Nadi published by MUIS.One of the characteristics of a Singaporean Muslim is to be "Progressive, practises Islam beyond forms/rituals and rides the modernization wave".

I used to remember that in one of your lessons, you told us, we should be a Muslim Singaporean and not vice versa.
And what does it mean to 'practice Islam beyong forms/rituals'? If Muslims don't carry out the rituals that are required in Islam, then what can they do to perform 'beyond rituals'?

Ustaz, can you provide some light or your perspectives on this?

    Wassalam. Shukran.
